What is open and closed in Glen Rock and Bergen County

Mar 19, 2020 03:09PM ● By Julie Maxwell Allen
To repeat the words of Governer Murphy and Mayor Morieko, this is a fluid situation that can change at a moment's notice. County Executive Jim Tedesco reversed his executive order that would shut down all non-essensial retail businesses, based on a suggestion by Attorney General, Gurbir Singh Grewal's' recommendation.

As of this time, the following are closed in Bergen County:

All personal-care businesses and social clubs which cannot comply with social distancing guidelines, until further notice, including:
  •  Barbershops
  •  Hair salons
  •  Spas
  •  Nail and eyelash salons
  •  Tattoo parlors
  •  concert venues
  •  nightclubs
  •  racetracks
  •  gyms
  •  fitness centers
  •  movie theaters
  • performing arts centers

Restaurants can not have eat-in clients. They can offer delivery, curbside and Pick Up.
 - Per the State order, restaurants can only offer carry out service until 8 pm and delivery until 11pm.

Change of hours:

All businesses and residents have a curfew of 8 pm - 5 am.

Kilroys is open 8 am - 6 pm ONLY.

Many big chain stores have changed their hours to later start time and early ending time.

In addition, this is what is closed in Glen Rock per Mayor Morieko:
  1. Borough Hall is closed to the public.
  2. The Library is closed.
  3. Rear yard pick up is suspended – all garbage must be brought to the curb.  If you have a legitimate issue in doing so, please contact the DPW at 201-670-3980 to arrange assistance.  This is for the SAFETY OF OUR EMPLOYEES!
  4. Recycling is still being taken at the center according to their business hours.
  5. All Playgrounds, Tennis Courts and Basketball courts are closed.  The School superintendent has closed all school property to the public including sports fields and playgrounds.  **Again, I cannot stress this enough ** all active recreation should be avoided.  Walking is ok in the Glen Rock parks.  I have received numerous emails and voicemails of children gathering at the schools and in the parks.  Personally, I have addressed those groups when I have seen them.  I trust that as residents when you see this occur, that you will be an upstander and remind each other this is not acceptable.
