Social Media Drug Dealers Arrested Following InvestigationMay 22, 2020 03:23PM ● By Chief Dean Ackermann
Just as New Jersey began to deal with the COVID-19 Crisis D/Sgt. James Calaski received information about individuals offering narcotics for sale via social media and making deliveries in Glen Rock. Through investigation D/Sgt. Calaski was able to confirm this activity and police learned of a potential deal scheduled to take place in Glen Rock on the evening of May 21, 2020.
As a result of this investigation, P.O. Samuel Evans arrested two Clifton men and one man from Passaic in a parking lot adjacent to the Rock Road Central Business District on the evening of May 21st just prior to 9 PM. Officers recovered just over an ounce of Marijuana and Hash oil cartridges for vaping which were being offered for sale.
Arrested were Mutaz M. Saleh age 24 of Clifton, NJ, Musbah N. Zakkour age 24 of Clifton, NJ, and Justin W. Cortese age 22 of Passaic, NJ. These actors were charged with one count each of:
Possession with intent to distribute more than one ounce of Marijuana
Possession of Narcotics with intent to distribute
Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia
Justin Cortese was also charged with possession of Marijuana under 50 grams when officers discovered him concealing an additional amount of marijuana on his person.
All three were processed at Glen Rock Police Headquarters and released on their own recognizance pending an appearance before Central Judicial Processing at the Superior Court in Hackensack on June 12, 2020.
Assisting with the arrest were Sgt. Greg Carter, P.O. Will Holguin, P.O. Sarah Orsita and P.O. T.J. Graziani, Lt. Frank Riggio was in operational command.
This arrest should serve as a reminder to parents of the importance of monitoring their children’s social media and smartphone activity.
Chief Dean Ackermann stated, "These charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."
